Lady Bears Gain Two SCA Softball Victories This Week

The softball tournament at Branson last Saturday was canceled because of rain. However, the Ava Lady Bears picked up two SCA victories during the past week over Thayer and Mtn. Grove.
The Lady Bears traveled to Lebanon on Tuesday and met defeat in non-conference play.
The girls will host Houston today (Thursday) in conference action and will travel to Willow Springs next Monday to complete the conference schedule.
Tuesday, Sept. 27, will be Senior Night for the Ava girls as they host Mansfield.
Last Thursday the Lady Bears hosted Thayer and picked up a 10-0 win over the Lady Bobcats.
Ashlyn Mitchell allowed just three hits and struck out seven Thayer batters in the six innings pitched.
Hannah Johnson was 2-for-2 for Ava with an RBI and three runs scored. Ava scattered just eight hits throughout the lineup, but picked up 10 free bases on walks.
Kelsey Regennitter had a double for the only extra-bases hit.
Ava hosted Mtn. Grove Monday afternoon and won 15-0 in four innings.
Mitchell allowed no hits and walked one Lady Panthers batter.
Abby Lansdown was 3-for-4 at the plate, scored one run and drove in one. Johnson was 2-for-2 and Melissa Coonts and Regennitter were each 2-for-3 on the day.
Regennitter had a single and a double, drove in three runs and scored twice. Payton Lakey was 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Johnson drove in two runs scored twice for Ava.
The Ava girls were in Laclede County Tuesday to face the Yellow Jackets of Lebanon.
Ava out-hit the opponents 9-8 but lost the contest 6-4. Each team had five errors in the game.
Regennitter, Kayla Dougherty and Lakey were each 2-for-4 at the plate, and Regennitter and Dougherty each had a single and a double.
Kelsey Regennitter, Misty Regennitter and Morgan Emerich had RBIs for Ava.
On Monday, at the home game with Mtn. Grove, the team wore special navy and gold jerseys in honor of Hospice Compassus. Donations were collected at the game, and $260 was raised, all of which went directly to hospice services.
