We were hopeful that some members who cannot attend our noon meetings would be able to join us last week at our evening meeting, and we were glad to see the one who did. Maybe as night meetings continue during the school year, others will be able to join us for a meeting soon.
Some time was spent planning for our participation in the Fall Farm Classic & Demolition Derby Sept. 24 at the fairgrounds. We will be selling funnel cakes, bottled water and iced tea from
4-10 p.m. on that day. Proceeds will go to worthy programs we support.
After that event, our booth will be moved to the football field where we will partner with Project Graduation helping them raise money at the last three home games of the season.
Plans are in full swing for Kiwanis Kids Day which has been set for Oct. 1, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A number of organizations have confirmed their participation and several area businesses have given us food prizes to raffle. If your club, organization or business would like to participate in the event or make a monetary or product donation, please contact Donna Dixon at 683-1918 as soon as possible.
This week, we are expecting to see David Williams, assistant high school principal and the September Citizens of the Month.
At next week’s meeting, our Lt. Governor Jim Brisco will be in attendance to present us with the “Champions For Children” award, which he nominated our club to receive from Division 18. That will be an exciting day! Since that will be the last meeting of the Kiwanis year, we will also be looking into ways we can improve our service and impact in the area. Come, join us!
Note to members: Remember–membership confirmations and money are due by Sept. 30 if you would like to remain on the roster of Kiwanis Club of Ava.
