NOTICE TO PUBLIC:
Douglas County All Hazard Mitigation Plan Update
Douglas County, with the assistance of South Central Ozark Council of Governments, has begun the process of preparing an update to its 2004 All Hazard Mitigation Plan. This plan is pursuant to Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) requirements.
The purpose of the plan is to devise and retain a strategy to reduce the impact of risks posed by disastrous natural events, such as tornadoes, ice storms and floods. The plan must be updated by the county and approved by FEMA every five years in order for the county and its jurisdictions to remain eligible for FEMA funding for current and ongoing hazard mitigation projects.
The general public is encouraged to attend the first planning meeting, scheduled for 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 22, 2011 in the Douglas County Courthouse Commission Meeting Room in Ava, Missouri. If not able to attend, you may send comments by any of the following means:
