JV Lady Bears Play In Marshfield Volleyball Tourney

The JV Lady Bears are vastly improving. That is the word from Coach Christy Stockdale.

“We played remarkably better in the Marshfield tournament,” she said.

The tournament had eight teams with each pool consisting of four teams. Ava took third in the pool and played for fifth against Marshfield freshmen.

Ava’s first game was against Buffalo and the Lady Bears won 25-15, 25-22. Starting the day off with a win was a great motivator. The girls communicated, moved their feet and didn’t let the ball drop.

The second match was against Reeds Spring and Ava lost 13-25, 25-16, a loss but much learned and an improvement from their previous play against Reeds Spring a week earlier.

Marshfield JV was Ava’s next opponent and the scores were 25-22 Marshfield and 25-14. This was an excellent match, Coach Stockdale said.

The girls did a number of aspects better and proved they were able to compete, she said. Again, she said, it was a vast improvement from the girls’ previous games against Marshfield last week.

Ava went into the tournament play first game against Pleasant Hope winning 25-14 and the second game winning 25-13. Ava played Marshfield and lost 25-21, 25-16 for 6th place in the Marshfield tournament.

Teams finishing ahead of Ava were Bolivar, Reeds Spring, Logan-Rogersville, Marshfield JV, and Marshfield Freshmen – a number of very good teams.

“The girls improve every game and we are looking forward to more improvement and wins,” Coach Stockdale said. “Great job, ladies; keep up the good work.”
