Gentry Church News

Bro. Doug Miller opened our Sunday morning with prayer and devotion.

Our Sunday school lesson was on “Righteousness and Wisdom”, Proverbs, chapter 3. Our world has access to information as never before and while learning is widespread, wisdom is rare. There appears to be no common sense anymore. The Bible tells us to trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not unto thine own understanding.

I missed getting the Gentry news in last week as I was spending time with my brother, Warren Henderson, and wife, Diane from Bella Vista, Arkansas over at Silver Dollar City attending the gospel music picnic. Sunday morning we attended church service at Silver Dollar City with the Hosea Bilyeu family. I heard some good music and preaching.

Remember the breakfast for the Miles For Meals at the Ava Senior Center, Sept. 10, 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. It’s for a very good cause.

Happy birthday wishes goes out to three year-old, Rylee McKinney.

Our church was saddened to hear of the passing of James Coonts. He fought a hard battle with cancer. His wife, Elaine and family are in our thoughts and prayers. The funeral was held Wednesday, September 7 at Gentry Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial was in Denney Cemetery. Dinner was served afterward in the church basement for the family.

Bro. Ean Hendricks brought the evening message from Luke 23:13-26. The story of Barabas in prison for murder and was set free while Jesus was crucified, but they had no power over him because He arose. It shows the love He has for us. He died in our sin so we can live victorious in Christ. Also Ean and his daughter blessed us with a special song.
