What wonderful weather we are having. I don’t think we could describe more perfect days than the last few days have been. At church is is so nice to have the windows open and feel the breeze blowing.
Friday night we went to Breedon’s singing, I have to admit we were late because I almost forgot about it. We got to hear some good singing, some good testimonies and visited with people that we hadn’t seen in a while.
Saturday, our youth had a yard sale and did a good job. I was proud of the kids for all of their help. We raised a little money for them, got rid of some stuff and had a great chance to sit and chat with each other. Even when you see each other every Sunday, it seems like you don’t always get to just visit and catch up on what’s going on in each other’s lives. It was a good day.
Sunday, we started off church with just a few people, but the crowd kept growing and we had several out for church service. It was good to have Matthew’s family back with us, and Jon and Lindsey. We sure miss Jon when he isn’t there to sing with us. Speaking of singing, our specials were: the youth, Jon Mitchell, a trio of Jon, Bud and Irene, and Gracie Williams sang one song. Donald preached about where were you ten years ago on the day of the twin towers. It’s something to think about. It seems any time there is a disaster, America turns to God for help and comfort, but it doesn’t take long before they forget. I heard someone say that at the ceremony in New York, they didn’t even want any preachers to come and pray. How very sad.
Sunday night, we had the pleasure of hearing Jon preach again. He was preaching a sermon about if God gives you a talent or a job to do, you better be doing what He has asked. It’s easy to say, “not now”, “maybe later”, but at what cost. If we listen to God, and try to do what He asks, He gives us more blessings, than we could ever hope for. Donald wasn’t there Sunday night, he was baptizing his grandkids. You know his blessings were overflowing.
We had company Sunday afternoon, Shawn, Miranda and Alexis came and ate dinner with us. Later in the afternoon, Dustin, Tina, Courtney, Rilee, and Logan came down and visited for a while.
I know you probably don’t want to hear this, but Christmas is close enough that we are starting to discuss plans for our Christmas program. My how time flies. Tammy said it seemed like she just got done with last year’s program. Anyway if you are interested in being in the programs, you sure need to start being in Sunday school. But then again, you always need to be in Sunday school.
I watched a good movie over the weekend called, Love Never Fails. Just the title has a great message in it, and the movie has a part where the preacher talks about, God is love. It was so good to know that someone still knows that we need some good moral movies. And that is also going to be my thought to close with today. Love does not fail, especially the love of God.
