Saturday morning I called a friend in Amite, LA. She was in her storm cubby hole due to a tornado warning for her area. Rosalie lives 20 miles west of Tony Williams, who used to own what is now Randy Boeddeker’s farm. Rosalie said she has concerns for Tony as he lives in a much lower area than she does and much rain is expected. Some of you may remember Tony as he visited many of the churches in this area, was excellent on the piano and has an operatic voice. Ronnie and I visited both of them just a few years ago and they treated us like royalty.
Frustration finally forced me to take my cats to the vet and to have an exterminator come treat my place for fleas. As Jim Brown is no longer in the pesticide business he referred me to Rodney Richardson from down near Gainesville. Rodney treated all of my yards and beyond in some places as well as my shed, kennel, garage and house. Now I have to vacuum every other day for a couple of weeks and burn the vacuum bag each time. Rodney will return in 3 weeks to do the house again as he said all the wild creatures are loaded with fleas and carry them here. The Cap-Star pill Doc. Johnson gave my cats worked immediately and I will continue with the flea “meds” for all my pets. Just thought I’d share this in case others are having the same problem.
Kim (Witchey) Fincher has been coming up the hill every few days, checking on Randy’s cattle and horses, as do I at times. We have 5 new babies on the ground and more to come shortly. That momma cow is taking care of the two former bottle calves like they are her very own. This is good news to Regina, who calls every other day from California.
This past week I’ve visited by phone with my sister and some friends in California. They all say 2011 has brought them some unusual weather. We know about unusual weather, don’t we?
“If my people, who are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked way, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 Consider this as food for thought as our land truly needs healing.
Please remember in prayer all those lost in the terrorist act of 9/11; also those who have lost loved ones, jobs, and property in the fires in Texas and the flooding in the northeast. Praying for rain for those desperately in need is a good idea as well.
Patsy Williams called to share that a week ago the family had a birthday party at Ava Park for 8 year old Cadence. On Sunday the 4th the family went to service at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church and then back to Patsy’s for dinner. Nick and Amanda and their three children, Miki and Daniel and their two children, Debbie and her grandson Jess were all there. Scott came by from fishing to show everyone his stringer of fish. Cherise and Zack also dropped by.
I inquired about Joan and Stanley Workman and Patsy says they are doing fine and that Joan is such a good song leader at church. Apparently Jamey Herd is still under the weather from the health incident in Kansas and is having difficulty speaking.
Arlene Boeddeker was telling me about a recent visitor at her place whom I haven’t seen for years. Andrew “Andy” Fisher presently lives in New York State. Ron Boeddeker and family visited Andy up north a few years ago and did some deer hunting.
We on Dogwood Hill pray for God’s blessings on each and every one of you.
