Cabool freshmen came to Ava Monday night, Sept. 12, and slipped out of town with a win.
Ava scored first on an interception by Kane Thompson that was returned for a touchdown. The 2-point conversion attempt failed.
The Bears then had a punt blocked for a safety and led 6-2 at the half.
Opening the second half, Thompson broke a long touchdown run, but again the Bears failed on the 2-point conversion attempt.
After two Cabool touchdowns the Bears found themselves trailing 14-12.
In the last minute of play the Bears had a touchdown called back on a penalty, and with 7 seconds on the clock, Cabool intercepted a pass in the end zone to clinch the game at 14-12 for the Bulldogs.
