Ava Kiwanis Club News

At last week’s meeting, we were joined by representatives from Plainview, Ava Public and Ava Victory Academy Schools.  Glenda was able to work with them to schedule Terrific Kids presentations for this school year.

It was our pleasure to visit with them and purchase their lunch.

Our District Governor has asked us to do one more membership push before the Kiwanis year ends on Sept. 30.  If you’ve ever thought about joining Kiwanis Club of Ava or would like more information, come to a meeting very soon and see what we are all about. If you join in September, your membership will just be $6 and is good until Sept. 30. You can decide whether or not to renew for another year at that time.

Current members–I will need your confirmation and check for $82 by Sept. 30 in order to renew your membership for the new year.

We have been invited to participate in the Fall Farm Classic & Demolition Derby  Sept. 24 at the fairgrounds.  We will be selling funnel cakes, bottled water and iced tea from 4-10 p.m. on that day. Proceeds will go to worthy programs we support.

After that event, our booth will be moved to the football field where we will partner with Project Graduation helping them raise money at the last three home games of the season.

Member Denise Reese has been faithful in watering the flowers we planted at the park earlier this year. If you’re at the park, stop by and check them out!

Plans are under way for Kiwanis Kids Day which has been set for Oct. 1, 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.  If your club, organization or business would like to participate in the event or make a monetary or product donation, please contact Donna Dixon at 683-1918 as soon as possible.

We are also making plans for our Club Officer Installation which is scheduled Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. at the Highway House Cafe.   Final plans should be announced very soon.

We now have a variety of Really Big Coloring Books at Ozark Family Vision Center. These big books are $4 each and would make great birthday or Christmas gifts. All proceeds from the books will go toward our Christmas For Kids project.

This week will be the first of our Monthly Night Meetings to be held at 6 p.m. at the Highway House Cafe.  Donna and Glenda have a meeting out of town on Wednesday and Thursday and may be a few minutes late on Thursday night, but someone will be there to greet any visitors who might attend.

It is easier than ever before to contact us.  Be our friend on Facebook by searching Ava Kiwanis.  If you have a program you would like to present, or know about one you think would be a good fit and of interest to our members or the community, contact Donna Dixon at 683-1918 to discuss scheduling.  For all other questions about Kiwanis Club of Ava contact Glenda Little at 683-6167.
