Ashlyn Mitchell pitched a no-hit shutout against Sparta in non-conference action here last Thursday afternoon as the Lady Bears defeated the Trojans 5-0.
Kelsey Regennitter was 3-for-4 at the plate with a single, a double and a triple, driving in three runs and scoring one.
Abbie Lansdown was 2-for-3 with two runs scored in the win. Hannah Johnson was 1-for-2 with a run scored and Makali Elliott scored a run for the Lady Bears.
Morgan Emerich had an RBI.
Others recording hits for Ava were Melissa Coonts, Payton Lakey and Misty Regennitter.
The Lady Bears will be at home today against Rogersville and will play Saturday in the Zizzer Tournament at West Plains.
On Tuesday, Sept. 13, the Lady Bears will travel to Hartville before being back home next Thursday against Thayer.
Mitchell faced just 24 batters in the seven-inning contest, striking out nine Sparta batters and walking one.
Ava committed three errors and Sparta had one.
