Mary Frances Hampton, 63 years, passed to heaven on Aug. 24, 2011 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Mo.
Mary was born July 20, 1948 in Pond Fork, Mo., to Herbert and Ella Mae (Kenner) Wilson.
Mary was a resident of the Ava community most of her life.
On Dec. 30, 1972 Mary and John Hampton were united in marriage in McClurg, Mo., and to this union one daughter, Heather was born.
Mary had worked for a few years at Rawlings Sporting Goods in Ava. She was a Christian and had attended church most of her life. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, making crafts, reading, sewing and spending time with her family. Mary had fun teasing the people she loved. She was a devoted caretaker for her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Gerald Wilson.
Mary is survived by her husband, John Hampton, Ava, Mo.; a daughter, Heather Rose Hampton of the home; three sisters and their spouses, Norma and Frank Calhoon, Chilhawee, Mo., Sandra and Danny Hampton, Springfield, Mo., and Darlene and George Hayhurst, Phoenix, Ariz.; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mary were Saturday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home Ava, with burial in the Union Grove Cemetery. Visitation was Friday, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Officiating were the Revs. Randy Dalton and James Hathcock. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
