Caney News

August 17 – Caney Church started by singing. Gabe Shipley, one of our youth, welcomed everyone. Prayer requests were taken and Sis. Janice Lafferty led in prayer. We had a good discussion about honesty. We don’t like to be cheated so we should be honest to others. Gabe read Matthew 3:1-11. He brought out how we should follow Christ and witness to others. That it’s a heart knowledge not a head knowledge. God will cut you down in judgement and cast you into the unquenchable fire. Gabe did a very good job. We are so pleased with our youth.

Sunday school opened with singing. Bro. Jack Essary welcomed everyone. Prayer requests were taken. Bro. Jeff Shipley led in prayer. Jack Essary read Proverbs 22:1-9 for our devotion.

After Sunday school, happy anniversary was sung to Pastor Bill and Melba Austin. God bless them with many more. Sis. Tracy Shipley led the youth in song. Testimonies were given by Jim Lafferty, Jeff Shipley and Bill Austin.

Praise and Worship began with singing. Singing specials were Gracie and Maddie Shipley, Aspen Isaacs, Melissa Harmon and Hannah Morgan. Pastor Bill Austin spoke this morning from Psalms 126:5-6. Are we planting the seeds of Christ? The harvest will be great if we keep trusting and praying. We are so glad for the visitors, please come again.

Sunday evening service began with singing.  Bro. Jeff Shipley welcomed everyone. Prayer requests and praise reports were taken. Bro. Jim Lafferty led in prayer. Testimonies were given by Janice Lafferty and Jeff Shipley. Pastor Bill spoke Sunday evening from I Thess. 1:9-10 and others. What are your idols that keep you from Christ? We need to put Christ first in our life and wait for His return. We are the bride of Christ. What kind of bride are we tthat we aren’t getting ready? Christ is coming soon. It was a spirit filled message that made us think. We are blessed to have God called men and women in our church to preach and teach.

August 24 – Caney Church opened with singing during Wednesday evening services. Little Gracie Shipley was our leader Wednesday evening. Prayer requests were taken and Bro. Jeff Shipley led in prayer. Kourtney and Maddie Shipley sang for us. This family is a real blessing. Tracie read John 11:1-44. She did a very good job reading this wonderful scripture, a wonderful assurance that because of Christ we can live again. Everyone had scriptures on Heaven. It was a very good picture of the life to come if we follow Christ and what He says we must do.

Sunday school opened with singing. Bro. Jack Essary welcomed everyone and took prayer requests and praise reports. Sis. Ethel Metcalf led in prayer. Jack read Phil. 1:3-11 for our devotion. Testimonies were given by Jeff Shipley and Ethel Metcalf.

Praise and Worship began with singing. Singing today were Maddie Shipley, Laureena Mitchell, Ethel Metcalf and Melissa Harmon. Pastor Bill Austin brought the morning message from Luke 17:3-10, even a small amount of faith can do great things. Are we faithful to God? With God’s help spiritual mountains can be moved.

Once again we were blessed with visitors. Please come back.

Testimonies were given by Bill Austin and Melba Austin. Bro. Jack Essary spoke Sunday evening from Psalms 121, Now is the time to look to the Lord for our strength. Prayer changes things. Lets pray for each other and our leaders of this country. It was an insightful message and straight from the Lord.
