Jamey and Billy Joe Herd sent me the news that the Dogwood Nazarene Church gathering last Friday night was very well attended and a nice collection was taken up for Crystal Lee. Erma Cudney’ passed away Sunday night at around 4:30 p.m. We ask that you keep her family in your prayers. Visitation will be held at Clinkingbeards Funeral Home, Wednesday at 6 p.m. with the funeral being held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Nazarene Church. The church is fixing a meal for the family following the funeral.
Regina Boeddeker and her son, Justin, have returned to California for awhile. We are all so glad Regina’s husband, Dan, returned safely from Afghanistan to his home base near Camarillo, CA and he wants his family with him. We, of course, shall miss Regina and Justin. Justin is very sad to leave the Ava Schools where he was doing so well. Ron and Reanna called a couple of times from Alaska just to visit. Reanna turns ten on the 28th of this month but she won’t be back here until in October. Ron is still on a “hunter’s high” over his trophy ram, which is now with a taxidermist in Wasilla, AK.
Saturday evening I attended the 60th Anniversary doings for Ray and Billye Donnelly at the home of Jerry and Karian Roberson. Any time Karian prepares events for her family or for St. Leo’s Church you can be sure it will be done right. There were about 20 of us there and we stayed inside for the event as the heat and humidity was quite oppressive. Crystal Lee was mentioned but no one seems to be up-to-date on her condition.
Last week was a busy one getting a dental cleaning for one of my little Eskimo dogs and a health checkup on Rascal, the Shih Tzu (the one that strayed in here a year ago). Then, wonder of wonders, I was able to get little Rascal into the Soggy Doggy for a much needed grooming due to a cancellation. I used to sell American Eskimo Miniature puppies and I still hear from owners on occasion, even one from Florida. I had my females spayed after the fire in 2001 but still have 3 Eskimo dogs, now ages 15, 13 and 11.
Waking up to rain several days in a row last week was such a pleasant surprise. Every drop is appreciated. I also appreciated going out for lunch after Mass on Sunday with Trish and Aryan Bohn. We went to the Sonshine Café and they were very busy, big crowd, and the food bar was quite nice. Sunday evening I decided to mow as it finally got down to 88 degrees at 6 p.m. Did part of the front area and then mowed the back yard. Guess it was a good thing as I discovered a board was coming off of the gate and it wouldn’t have taken much for the dogs to get out. When I couldn’t fix it myself I called dear neighbor, Bob Wagner, and he came with screws and a screw “gun” and fixed the gate.
Well, another week and no news from others in the Dogwood Community. Please do give me a call at 683-4229 as I am usually home….or drop by for a visit. Let me know how you are doing and/or if you have heard from or had visits from former residents. Readers are interested.
God bless, stay cool, be well…..and call me!!!
