There were not a lot of members present at last week’s meeting, but we were able to take care of some business and have some chat time as well, which is always fun.
David Williams has contacted us and we are starting the Citizen of the Month Program in August this year, so he and the students will be attending next week’s meeting and every 4th Thursday during the school year.
We generally work with Project Graduation at home football games. After looking at the schedule, we won’t be able to start until after the Sept. 24 fair event. There will be three home games after that we should be able to help out.
We have been invited to participate in a Sept. 24 fundraiser at the fairgrounds. We will be selling funnel cakes, bottled water and iced tea from 4-10 p.m. on that day. Proceeds will go to worthy programs we support.
Kiwanis Kids Day has been set for Oct. 1. Some of the initial contacts have been made. If your club or organization would like to participate, please let us know!
We are working with our incoming Lt. Governor on plans for Officer Installation Dinner and Ceremony, which will likely be held sometime in October.
We now have a variety of Really Big Coloring Books at Ozark Family Vision Center. These big books are $4 each and would make great birthday or Christmas gifts. All proceeds from the books will go toward our Christmas For Kids project.
If you’ve ever thought about joining Kiwanis Club of Ava or would like more information, come to a meeting very soon and see what we are all about. If you join in August, your membership will just be $12 and is good until September 30. You can decide whether or not to renew for another year at that time.
