Missouri State Fair Announces Grand Champion & Reserve Grand Champion Meat Goat

SEDALIA – Kayla Morrow of Bronaugh, and daughter of Kevin and Twila Morrow, is the exhibitor of the 2011 Grand Champion Meat Goat at the Missouri State Fair. Her goat weighed 92 pounds; she is a member of the Show Me 4-H Club.

The Reserve Grand Champion Meat Goat honor went to Spencer Scotten of Nevada, son of Shannon and Krista Scotten. His goat weighed 94 pounds; he is a member of the Nevada FFA Chapter.

On Aug. 20, Kayla’s and Spencer’s meat goats will be two of 12 lots offered in the Youth in Agriculture Sale of Champions. Proceeds from the annual sale benefit both the winning exhibitors and the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture Scholarship Program.

Because of the generous support of Youth in Agriculture sponsors, the Missouri State Fair is able to award scholarships to Missouri youth pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field. Last year, thirty $1,000 scholarships and one supreme $2,500 scholarship were awarded to youth across the State.

To become a Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture supporter, contact Wayne Yokley at 573-690-8987 or Rodney Heimer at 573-393-2452.

Results and photographs of many of the competitions will be posted at www.mostatefair.com <https://pod51000.outlook.com/owa/redir.aspx?C=5fec6a11dd3547e1993efd2b5940ce75&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.mostatefair.com%2f> as they become available.

The 2011 Missouri State Fair is currently under way in Sedalia and will continue through Sunday, Aug. 21.
