Missouri State Fair Announces Grand Champion, Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb

SEDALIA – Troy Sloan, son of Scott and Tonya Sloan, Cameron, Mo., is the exhibitor of the 2011 Grand Champion Market Lamb at the Missouri State Fair.  His lamb weighed 137 pounds.  He is a member of the Cameron FFA.

The Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb honor went to Brady Minear, son of Brent and Margaret Minear from Livonia, Mo. His lamb weighed 136 pounds. He is a member of the Putnam County FFA.

On Aug. 20, Troy’s and Brady’s market lambs will be two of 12 lots offered in the Youth in Agriculture Sale of Champions. Proceeds from the annual sale benefit both the winning exhibitors and the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture Scholarship Program.

Because of the generous support of Youth in Agriculture sponsors, the Missouri State Fair is able to award scholarships to Missouri youth pursuing a degree in an agriculture-related field. Last year, thirty $1,000 scholarships and one supreme $2,500 scholarship were awarded to youth across the state.

To become a Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture supporter, contact Wayne Yokley at 573-690-8987 or Rodney Heimer at 573-393-2452.

Results and photographs of many of the competitions will be posted at www.mostatefair.com as they become available.

The 2011 Missouri State Fair is currently under way in Sedalia and will continue through Sunday, Aug. 21.
