The Ava Football Bears will participate in a preseason Jamboree this Friday night, but it won’t be at Lebanon as previously announced. The Bears will travel to Camdenton instead.
It seems the jamboree at Lebanon was to have only involved two teams – Ava and the Yellow Jackets. The state stepped in and said, no. A jamboree cannot be held with just two teams.
In the meantime, up the road at Camdenton, four teams were holding a jamboree—Eldon, Republic, Marshfield and the host Lakers.
The solution that was reached is that Ava and Lebanon will drive to Camdenton where six teams will participate on the same field.
Ava, Lebanon and Marshfield will “jamboree” on one end of the field while Republic, Camdenton and Eldon will play on the other end.
The jamboree will begin at 7 p.m. and will be held at Bob Shore Stadium.
All the Ava High School teams participated in preseason scrimmages last Friday evening, in an event hosted by the Bear Booster Club.
The games began at the high school gym with the Lady VolleyBears, followed by a softball scrimmage at 6 o’clock at the athletic complex west of town. The evening ended at the football field with the band performing, a football scrimmage, and a pulled pork meal.
The cross country team ran from the high school to the softball field where those team members were introduced. They then ran back to the high school for their evening workout.
