Let it be known that the Douglas County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold an election for one supervisor in each of two different territories in the county.  Territory 2 (Findley, Benton, Spring Creek, Miller, Boone and Walls) and Territory 4 (Wood, Bryan, Brush Creek, Clinton, McKinley and Richland).  The election will take place on October 14, 2011, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Douglas County SWCD office, located at 1401 NW 10^th Lane (behind Century Bank), Ava, Missouri.  Each landowner in the district is allowed one vote per area.  If you need directions you can call the district at (417) 683-4816 Extension 3.  Please present one form of photo identification to vote.

Nominating committees for the election have submitted names of the following qualified candidates:

Territory 2 (Findley, Benton, Spring Creek, Miller, Boone and Walls Township)

Hollis D. Smith-Findley Township

Territory 4 (Wood, Bryan, Brush Creek, Clinton, McKinley and Richland             Townships)

C. Eldon Russell-Brush Creek Township

Any landowner that was not nominated by the nominating committee may have their name added to the ballot, if they reside in on of the two territories where an election is to be held.  They must meet the qualifications to be a board supervisor and have secured a petition of at least ten (10) signatures of land representatives in the territory they wish to represent.  The petition must be submitted to the district office, at least ten (10) days before the election date listed above.
