8-1-11. Well, here I’ve been getting bad news again. Friday ngiht Frank Dee Allison called to let us know our dear friend, Harley Cox, had passed away. We had been expecting it, but we’re still sad. He was a good man and such a good sport to let me tease him so much in my columns I sent to the Douglas County Herald. Our very deepest sympathy to his loving wife, Cathy, and also to his good friend, Frank Dee. They had been best “buds” for a long time and I know he is and will be greatly missed. After I heard that I called Junior Evans in Blue Grass to tell him, because him and Harley used to be good friends and I think fishing buddies. Of course, Junior was sorry to hear the news of his death too. He said he had just got back from a funeral in Ava, Missouri. I asked whose it was and he said, “Your cousin, Freida.” So of course I was sorry to hear about it. Then in Saturday’s Quad Cities Times I saw another death in the O.B.S. the man who owned this place and built the campground, swimming pool, mini-golf, etc. it was his wife that passed. He’s the one who sold the place to the new owners and had it in the deal that they had to let me stay here and he always ask them when he comes out here if I’m still here. So I’m really thankful to him for that. I’ve got to get busy and get some cards ready to send out. I guess our weather hasn’t been too bad lately compared to some other places. I should say “many” other places. We’re still getting enough rain to keep the grass and weeds growing. The humidity is what’s making it hard on us. It’s supposed to be worse for a few days again. We sat out in the shade yesterday morning and had a nice, cool breeze blowing, but in the afternoon we tried it again and our nice breeze was gone so we didn’t stay out very long. We see so many thing going by on Interstate 80 all the time. In the morning I have an appointment at 8:00 to get my bloodwork done, so I have to remember to start fasting at 8:00 p.m. tonight. I have to go once every three months to get it checked because of the diabetes and other things too. It is at Tipton so I don’t have to go far. I hope it all turns out okay. I sure don’t want to take more medicine if I can help it.
Everyone take care of yourselves and bye, bye for now.
