Local Residents Warn Of Fraudulent Letter Received from “FBI”

Residents of the Ava community received an e-mail letter recently that was made to appear to be from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The recipient, who wishes to remain anonymous, immediately contacted the FBI with information about the letter.

Fraudulent attempts such as this are not uncommon. However, individuals who may receive such letters should understand they are bogus. Under no circumstances should you give credit card or banking account information to anyone indicating you have a large sum of money due to you from a foreign country. Also, do not reply to such an email as this affirms to the sender that they have your email address.

You may always assume that if you are to pay a sum of money in order to have a larger amount released to you, it is probably bogus.
