Lawrence Alvie Miller, 89 years, 0 months, and 8 days old, passed to heaven on Aug. 7, 2011 at his home with his family by his side.
Lawrence was born July 30, 1922 in Silverton, Mo., in Douglas County to Hermie and Angie Miller.
On Nov. 17, 1942 Lawrence and Bernece Harris were united in marriage in Hartville, Mo., and to this union two children were born.
Lawrence retired from the Missouri State Highway Dept. of Transportation after 28 years of service. He was also a farmer all his life and loved raising cattle and horses. He was a member of the Oak Grove General Baptist Church. Lawrence enjoyed fishing and hunting with his friends and family. His love and devotion was to his family.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Joe, two sisters, Retha Norris and Wanda Haynes, and one grandson, Toby Brock Miller.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Bernece Miller, Ava, Mo.; son and wife, Lawrence Gilbert “Gib” and Connie Miller, and daughter and husband, Connie Lee and Jim Holobaugh, all of Ava; four grandchildren, Kim Dodson, Todd Miller, Lana Heard, and Trampas Miller; six great-grandchildren, Jason, Ashley, Kody, Ethan, Kelsie and Elijah Gib; three great-great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Emma and Kale; many nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Lawrence were Wednesday, Aug.10, at 2 p.m. in the Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, with burial in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday, from 1 p.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating were the Rev. Tom Johnson and Robert Haden.
