God is so good to us. As I am writing this, we are getting a gentle rain outside. As a matter of fact, it has rained all day. I know my garden sure appreciates the good drink of water and our spirits enjoy the coolness it brings to the day.
Our VBS was last week and we had a great week. We had lots of youth and several helpers. We appreciate everyone for taking the time to help, and for the parents that sent their children. We had a theme going, to keep a “smile on our face and joy in our hearts”. That would be a good way to start each and every day. Not just for kids, but for us adults as well.
Sunday morning was our biscuits and gravy breakfast, and it was a huge success. I said that even Bobby Flay would have been proud of all of us chefs. WE all worked together and had a big meal fixed for a group of hungry church goers. Our youth group also raised some money in the process. I think everyone had a good fellowship. Now they are talking about doing this event again. Maybe, that was just the men because they enjoyed the big breakfast they got to feast on. We appreciate our chefs: Peggy, Rachel, Tina, Alice, Maddie, and Irene. Jenny and Esther helped with the drinks and and table. We appreciate all the contributions for the food. Everything just worked together great.
It was good to have Donald and Portia back with us, Donald wasn’t feeling very good. He thought his trip had left him very tired. We need to remember him in our prayers. We need to also remember Portia’s mother, who was in the hospital, and Larry’s brother who is still in the hospital.
It was really good to have Jon Mitchell back with us Sunday. He sang a special with Bud and I, and then we had Arthur Hampton join us for one song. Sunday night Jon preached for us, God gave him a very good message. He talked about watching out for the devil, who could be walking around right beside us. Would you see him if he was, or are we so used to seeing him that we don’t even notice him.
Saturday I took my granddaughters and we did a little school shopping. I think everyone else did also, because there was a crowd out in Springfield. We always have a good time.
This week may actually be a little calmer for us, unless of course Roger finds me something to do. You never know if he and Donald might find me some other job that they think I need to take care of, like cooking Roger supper or something.
Anyway, whatever comes my way this week I will try to remember my motto for the week. Keep a smile on my face and joy in my heart and I challenge you to do the same.
