Dorothy Jean Thompson, 68 years, 5 months, and 5 days old, passed away on Aug. 8, 2011 at her home with her family by her side.
Dorothy was born March 3, 1943 in Ft. Pierce, Fla., to Quentin and Hazel (Scott) Salter.
She and Rudy lived and raised their children in western Douglas Co. and Dorothy loved telling her life story with pen and paper. She enjoyed her years in Florida on the ocean and she took many trips to Swan Creek with her children while they lived in Ava, but mostly she loved her time with her children and grandchildren.
Dorothy was preceded by her parents and a niece, Michelle.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, William Rudy Thompson; two sons, Rodney and his wife Christina Thompson, Ava, Mo., and Will Thompson of Springfield; five daughters, Lisa Matthiesen and her husband Carter of Centralia, Mo., Margo Cyret and Tammy White of Ava, Teresa and Tina Thompson of St. Petersburg, Fla. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Kane and Courtney Thompson, Michael, Eugene Jr. and Monica White, Dalton Matthiesen, Jessica Johnson, Thomas and Austin Cypret; one great-granddaughter, Allie White and one on the way, Landon White; two sisters and their spouses, Dixie Lee and Jim Joiner and Mary Sue and Edwin Altman.
There will be a private family gathering held for Dorothy. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo.
