Hello friends. I could almost hear the grass and plants drinking in the sweet rain and I pray that each part of our thirsty land gets refreshed by life giving rain. Thank you to God for his provision.
It was a pleasant Monday evening and was cool inside though it was pretty warm outside, as I joined with other women in the Dogwood area for the Ladies Fellowship meeting. The Dogwood Nazarene Church is the host of these monthly gatherings and they are open to women of all ages in the community who enjoy fellowshipping with each other and doing good works. It was pleasant because it was our monthly opportunity to enjoy each other’s company and visit together without distractions. We shared a light meal, then listened together to a devotional that spoke of lasting friendships.
Laughter and encouragement seems to be the theme of most evenings as we share one another’s joys and concerns. The project scheduled for next month, is a baby shower for little Mitchell Peebles, son of Micah and Ashley, who is to arrive toward the end of August.
Since it’s beginnings, the ladies in the fellowship have made quilts for loved ones, lap quilts for the nursing home in Ava, they have had guest speakers, made prayer shawls and cancer caps for the Springfield hospitals, have had fundraiser bake sales for Ronald McDonald House and Haven House, they bake cakes for the nursing home, and send care packages to missionaries and soldiers overseas, and many more good deeds that show compassion, fueled by the love and tender mercies of God.
Fellowship groups like Ladies Fellowship are one of the many ways that the churches in our area reach out to one another and the community with the love of God, and for those who do not have a relationship with God, or who are growing in their relationship with Him, meeting these women who love Him and share His compassion for humanity will encourage you to know God even more.
When Phillip asked Jesus to show him the Father in John Ch 14, Jesus asked Phillip, “Have I been so long with you and you still don’t know me? He that has seen me has seen the Father”.
In a similar way, when you meet someone who is full of love for God, who does what Jesus commands and is full of the Holy Spirit, you are seeing God in them; and as Jesus said, “He that has seen me has seen the Father”.
Thank you Jesus, for the Holy Spirit who changes our hearts to be more like the heart of our Father.
Until next time, God bless you and your loved ones.
