Tecumseh

At this writing we are needing rain badly.  Our lawns are drying up and shrubs that usually are blooming are in need of moisture.  Crepe Myrtles are usually in full bloom and so pretty at this time.

Sympathy is expressed to the Iva Russell family whose funeral was Monday at Ava.

Sid and Vicki Smith, Pastor Scott Linton and Gayela attended the Mission and Ministry Summit in Collinsville, Illinois, July 25th through July 27th.

Services at Lilly Ridge were dismissed Sunday evening because of this event.

The families of Irene Trent and the Genelle Pierce family have our sympathy, and also all who have lost loved ones the past week.

Best wishes to Barbara Seymour who is recovering from her car accident a couple of weeks ago, at Tecumseh area.

The Lilly Ridge Extension Club ladies met in the basement room of the Ozark County Health Department in Gainesville last Thursday morning.  August 18th meeting will also be held there.

On Thursday, July 28th, Wayne Glen from KWTO, Springfield, will bring the program for the Historium monthly meeting.  Time is 9:30 am, program at 10:00 am.

August 9th is time for the food bank truck delivery at the former Hodgson Mill building on old 160 Hwy West of town.

Hootin’ an Hollarin’ time is fast approaching and the dates are September 15th through September 17th.  Our “quilter lady” of Lilly Ridge Club, Katie Hoversen, has our quilt finished and it is a beautiful quilt to buy chances on.

Thanks to a good friend, Bea Link, I have enjoyed her ripe tomatoes and squash along with banana peppers.

Also I got fresh corn from Marsha Lyon Sunday from their garden.  This year is the first year I can remember not having a garden of my own.

Mearl and Beulah Satterfield and I were shopping in West Plains last week.  Their garden was reduced a lot this summer also.

Richard and Rene Blackburn enjoyed a drive through Arkansas and Mississippi.  He said they looked for watermelons along the way.

Home on his wife’s maternity leave from the armed services in El Paso, Texas, Rusty Denton and wife Nicole, are with his folks in Mtn. Home and Nicole’s sister, Lisa and family there also.  They have been stationed there for a few years time.

Warren and Neoma Moody, Nicole’s grandparents, are expecting them to come visit them soon, as well as her parents, Dan and Arreaun Moody.

The Richard Blackburn’s’ spent Saturday and Sunday in Branson, where they enjoyed Pierce Arrow and the Presley shows, and Barbara Fairchilds Sunday morning services and shows.

As fall will soon be coming and time to think of heating our homes, thoughts come to mind of fuel costs.  Already prices are getting elevated with just the thought of winter.

Happy July 29th birthday to my daughter, Karen Kathleen Davis, who celebrates this Friday.  Also all July birthday.

Gennie Gilles of Gainesville has an August 6th birthday.
