Several Sentenced At August Law Day

On Monday, Aug. 2, during August Law Day, Judge John Moody sentenced the following people to the Department of Corrections:

Billy J. Hesterlee, 38, Ava, was sentenced to four years in prison after violating his probation on the original charge of property damage, 1st degree, and four years in prison for possession of methamphetamine precursors, with the sentences to run concurrently.

Cole Wagner, 19, Ava, was sentenced to three years in prison after violating his probation on the original charge of property damage, 1st degree, and two years in prison for conspiracy to commit burglary. The sentences will run concurrently.

James A. Shea, 30, Ava, was sentenced to seven years in prison after violating his probation on the original charge of possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. The Board of Probation and Parole had declared him an absconder in May 2011.

Mike E. Powell, 24, Ava, was sentenced to five years in prison for sexual assault, on a probation violation.

Douglas A. Cross, 37, Hartville, was sentenced to one year in prison after violating his probation on the original charge operating a motor vehicle while revoked.

Randy A. Petty, 38, Hartville was sentenced to three years in prison after violating his probation on the original charge of possession of methamphetamine precursors.

Kimberly D. Cantrell, 35, Mansfield, was sentenced to five years in prison after violating her probation on the original charge of identity theft.

Douglas County Associate Circuit Judge Craig Carter sentenced Joni Smith, 24, Theodosia, to two years in prison for violation of her probation on the original charge of possession of controlled substance. This sentence will run concurrently with a Howell County sentence.
