Rome

We were very happy for the rain that came over the weekend. We got an inch and a quarter. Several people got two inches or more west of Goodhope.

Pete Jenkins from Fayetteville, Arkansas came up Tuesday to spend the day with Norma Cross and I. We visited with Peggy Jenkins and our cousin, Goldie Miller, at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center and had lunch at the Ava Drug. While there we saw several people we know.

Irene Richards was taken to Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center Friday. Our prayers are with her.

Tony was busy over the weekend cutting grass and brushhogging. Friday Dick and I picked Kailey Thompson up from Camp JOY. She spent the week there. Lots of her friends were there too. It was her first time. Dick had been to Vera Cruz.

Saturday was a big day for the late George and Dora Applegate descendents. They met at the O.C. in Ozark. They have two daughters left out of ten children. Vi Tibble from Ozark is 92 and Ann O’Bryan from Kansas City, MO. is 90. Five generations attended. Some came from Oklahoma and Arkansas. I didn’t get a head count, but there was over 75 men, women and children visiting, taking pictures and eating. Several went swimming in the pool.

If anyone in the Rome area has any news, I would be glad to add it to mine – Pauline Richards 683-2770.
