Oak Grove Church

We had a wonderful time in worship service this last Sunday. Lola Mayberry and two beautiful young ladies, Miss Brunetta McNeice and Miss Beverely McNeice sang for us before the message. It is always a blessing to hear young voices praising the Lord.

The morning message was “Killin’ Snakes” from our text in Acts 28, when Paul shook the serpent off into the fire. And from a reference my dad made one time about attacking our work, “Like we were, killin’ snakes.” I don’t know about you, but when it comes to killin’ snakes, I not only want the job done quickly, but I want it done completely. We should address our spiritual obligations with the same zeal and with just as much attention to “details.” Maybe that should be de-tails.

Our evening messsage was “Evidence That We Know,” how to recognize and be assured that we are making progress in our journey through life. By progress, we mean drawing closer to the example our Savior instructed us to live before our fellowmen. Our text was from I John 5:13, “That ye may know that ye have eternal life.”

You may have driven by and noticed we had a pretty good crowd, but don’t worry, we still have your seat available. Come on in and join us in worship. Oh, our air conditioner works (some folks said this week it worked too well). Actually, we could use a little more “body heat” to help moderate the temperature. Help us out next Sunday.
