Norwood Area Gleanings

Today is a beautiful day and it’s rather cool but I’m sure we’re headed for another hot one.

Tuesday we attended the memorial service for our nephew, Leon Bradshaw. My, what a crowd, I wonder just how many were there. Those that stayed were served a bountiful dinner by the Church of God ladies.

I hear Velma Gray may be moved to a room today. She’s been in Cox South over a week. We hope she will recover soon.

Juanita Sinning had surgery a week ago and is doing good. Her husband died recently after suffering so long. Juanita needs our prayers.

There is so much sickness as I’ve said before according to the Bible it would not have been that way if it wasn’t for Satan. We could have lived healthy forever. But our Almighty God gave us a chance by accepting his ransom, Jesus Christ.

The Macomb Sunshine Club met Wednesday at Ma and Pa’s Cafe in Mansfield. Those present were Sharon Norell, president; JoAnn Gray, Loretta Hall, Robin McNeil, Ruth Bradshaw, Marilyn Wilson, Sue Dodds, Irma Jean Ward. Visitors were Jenny Gray, Duane McNeil and Leo Bradshaw. Sue Dodds had the devotional. Roll call was how we kept cool before electricity. Some members had planned to go to the foot clinic but it was closed that day. One member, Mrs. Dake, was absent. Our waitress was very accommodating.

Sorry to hear about the death of Mrs. Karen Conley of Mountain Grove. She was the daughter of my neighbor and friend when I grew up, Beulah Vaughan and Loren Sanders of Ava. Beulah and I and our sisters attended Hickory Flat School south of Norwood. She attended Ava High School and met Mr. Sanders there. Mrs. Conley was 64 years of age.

Teresa Chadwell attended a class in Springfield Friday. It had to do with massages.

My great grandson, Drew Vaughan, attended a ball game at Columbia, Mo. Friday. His team won 2-4. They stayed and will play today. Several relatives went including his granddad, Harold Vaughan. They’re small to go so far to play ball.

We visited with my great grandkids Thursday evening, the Shawn Chadwell children. They are all so busy doing this and that we don’t see them much since they are growing up. We also visited the Dustin Chadwell family. Their baby girl is 16 months and at a cute stage. We enjoyed her. Justin her brother, was busy reading a book. That made three he had read that day. He will be in second grade this coming term.

We appreciate the work that Phil and Sue (Fagan) Durden did regarding the Ryan reunion. Thanks so much. They are family, but oversaw it and the place we met they got for us. We will meet there next year also.

Rallace Stewart celebrated a birthday this week. Two of his friends took him to Golden Corral to eat dinner. Rollace does so many nice things for folks.

June Bradshaw is back home as her house has been impaired due to water coming in and saturating her carpet. She had to replace them. She has a nice semi-earth home but the water came in during the heavy rains. She stayed with Barbara Saladin, her daughter, while it was repaired.
