New Hope Freewill Baptist Church

I apologize first off for missing last week, but we have all been really busy with the remodel going on. Yes, you read that right, New Hope is getting remodeled! We are so excited and so blessed for all the wonderful things God is doing at our church and everywhere. We have had a lot of people aslo donate time, materials and their support, we appreciate those people.

Last week – During Wednesday night Bible  study we had 13 attend. We have been studying the book of Genesis and have had some wonderful studies. At morning service we had an attendance of 23. The adults studied Luke, chapter 9 in Sunday school. Our morning message delivered by Bro. Scott was from Genesis 18:9-15. These scriptures are such proof that we serve an Almighty God who knows our every thought that sin is as easy as a thought that runs through our minds. Abraham was being told that his wife, Sarah, would be with child. The scripture says Sarah laughed within herself. The Lord heard her laugh and question within herself that which He had promised her and then she also denied laughing. It seems like to me we have a hard time giving God His due credit.

At evening service we had 28 attend services. Bro. Scott delivered the word from Luke 12:13-21. This parable is a wonderful example of how much people put into their riches on earth instead of the investment we should put into our soul for eternal riches. Luke 12:21, “So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Are you rich toward God, and make preparations for eternity, or are you worried about your comfortablility while here on this earth? Today could be the day that thy soul is required where have you invested your soul to? Heaven, hell?

This week – Wednesday night we studied over Genesis, chapter 20 during Bible study and had an attendance of 21. Sunday morning service we had 29 attend services. Our Sunday school lesson was over Luke, chapter 10. My birthday is coming up this week so the congregation sang Happy Birthday to me. We made mention of many prayer requests, knowing God will deal with them all the way He sees fit. Bro. Scott delivered the morning message from Isaiah 51:7-11. We have such wonderful promises to stand on that God has given to us that live and dedicate our lives to Him. Yes our Father’s wrath is great and mighty, but His mercy and His love is awesome to those who know and fear Him. We should have joy unspeakable and be full of the glory of God. We should listen and obey and be a people He can trust. Though we may face hard times we can do all things, the Bible says that we are more than conquerers through God.

During our evening service we had 32 attend. Bro. Bion Irwin and family joined us for services and Bro. Bion brought forth God’s word for the evening. The message for the evening was from Acts, chapter “The Road to Damascus” and II Corinthians 5:7, (“for we walk by faith, not by sight.) This message is so cut and dried. The things the life, the hatred, the muck that the Lord can deliver us from. A song came to mind when the Brother was preaching this message “Living By Faith.” “Living by faith in His sheltering arms, I’m living by faith and I feel no alarm.” To follow Christ is to have faith. To perservere through Him is faith. We must walk by faith and not by sight. Faith is a wonderful gift that we receive from the Lord. The things of this world are only temporal, it’s the things unseen, the walk through the Holy Spirit each Christian takes, that we can store our hope in. All the great saints of the Bible, if nothing else, had one thing in common. They walked by faith, not by sight. Noah, Abraham, Gideon, Elijah – their faith alone in God delivered them from things that are not humanly possible. Only God along could deliver them from.

We appreciate all the visitors we have had and want to welcome them back anytime they want to join us for services.
