Eastern Gate and Around the Mountain

There’s an old saying “when the cats away the mice will play,” well our pastor Donald was away preaching at another church Sunday and I want him to know that we were on our best behavior. That is to say, our behavior was good for us. After all we have to do to put up with Bud, Roger, Jerry, Larry, Jimmy, you know the usual group of men that like to pick on you as you come up on the front porch. They all do a wonderful job of making people feel right at home.

Ray Dobbs, and his wife, Margie, were with us Sunday. He filled in for Donald and did a great job. He truly gets filled with the spirit of God as he preached and it seems to spread throughout the church. I ask Ray if he had anything good I could ask Donald about when I saw him again, now let’s see something about a trip they took and the number 22. I’m sureeI’ll remember the rest when I see Donald.

Sunday night Darrell Gunter had some of his family with him at church. Darrell and Grace sang a special and so did Tammy Gunter. The youth sang Sunday morning, but we didn’t have enough kids there to sing Sunday night. Margie sang a song for us Sunday.  Bud and I tried a new song. It’s hard to learn new songs, but the words to this song meant a lot. It talked about eternity only has two choices. It was good to have Frances at church, she has to miss a lot because of work.

We kept our granddaughter, Alexis, this weekend and took her to church with us Sunday morning. Shawn and Miranda  came out and ate Sunday dinner with us when they picked Alexis up to takerher back home.

Our VBS is the first week in August, we need lots of kids and lots of prayers. It starts at 6:30, if you would like to come and help us. We are having our breakfast the Sunday morning after VBS. Now Jolly said he wanted to eat his about 6:00 before he went to work, but he didn’t find anybody willing to get up that early and go cook him any food. We have said that it would be ready about 9:30 and we even have a volunteer to make biscuits and gravy.  Now all we have to do is get the kids here early to help set up and get people here to eat. I love it when a good plan comes together.

It seems we all get busy, and time gets short. I am the best at saying I just don’t seem to have enough time, but there is always time for God. He should always be first  in yur life and everything else will fall into place. Our lesson in my primary class was the greatest commandment. “Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all the soul and will all thy mind.” That is a rule for everyone to live by. Set your goal this week that everything you do will be with that in mind. Till next week take care.
