God truly blessed us with a wonderful rain this weekend. We need to keep praying for rain and cooler weather. Our church is in VBS this week and we could use some cooler temperatures. I’m sure whatever God has in store for us, He knows what it best. By the time you are reading this, our VBS will be almost over and I hope the kids and grown-up kids alike have enjoyed themselves and learned something about our Lord and Saviour. That is, after all, what VBS is all about.
Ray Dobbs was our speaker again Sunday morning, and he preached about a light in the darkness. Jesus is the light of the world and Satan has tried over and over to put out His light, to no avail. We also are to be spreading the light of Jesus as we live our Christian lives. Satan tries every way to put out our light every chance he gets. We have to keep our eyes on God and our hearts right, in order to defeat Satan.
We had a good group of youth Sunday morning. They sang the first special for us. Gracie Williams sang one and Bud and I sang. It was good to have Jackie Nelson back with us. She hadn’t been feeling well. Larry Hutchinson said his brother was doing a little better, but still needs your prayer. Most of us have family members that we request prayer for at times, God knows who they are, and we just have to pray that He will take care of them.
Sunday night Darrell Gunter brought our message; it had been a while since we had heard him preach. He also sang a special with Evan Mitchell. Margie also sang for us Sunday night.
My weeks have been full of activity as usual. My grandson, Braxton, turned two Wednesday so we went up to his birthday party. It’s hard to believe how fast they grow up. Saturday, I took my mother up to my brother, Howard’s for a BBQ supper. There were several family members present: Stan and Dottie Adams, Billy, Joann, Michael and Michaela Adams, Jennifer and Eric Lockman, June and Elzie Berry, Roger and me and my mom. She got to play some games and eat homemade ice cream.
Next Sunday I hope to see all our church out early, not as early as Jolly wants, but by 9:30. We want to have a good breakfast, a great fellowship and then move on to Sunday school. I know the kids all want you to come out and support them.
That’s all my news for this week, so like the song says, let your light shine for Jesus. Don’t let Satan blow it out. Stay cool and God bless you and then pass it on.
