Workers are finishing up the final details on the Cowskin Creek Bridge west of Ava this week in anticipation of reopening the road Friday afternoon or Saturday morning.
The Cowskin Creek Bridge on Highway 14 west of Ava will open Friday afternoon or Saturday morning this week, the Herald was told Wednesday afternoon.
Workers were paving the approaches to the new bridge Wednesday. There are still some guardrails to be installed and shoulder work to be completed, and the bridge will be ready to open.
Highway 14 west of Ava has been closed since June 20 for replacement of the bridge. During that time, all traffic into Ava from the west has had to use detour routes, either to State Route 76 or via County Road 519 which has really taken a beating during this time of rerouting traffic.
In the meantime, the Fox Creek Bridge on Highway 14 east of Ava near Gentryville is scheduled to reopen on Aug. 5, according to MoDOT spokesman Bob Edwards.
The Beaver Creek Bridge at Bradleyville will close on Aug. 1 and the Beaver Bridge on Highway 76 between Ava and Goodhope will close Aug. 15 for replacement.
