The hot dry temperatures aren’t too enjoyable for those of us who like to be outside these summer days. Plenty of sunscreen helps from getting sunburned.
Prayer is requested for Iva Russell who is seriously ill with congestive heart failure. Her children are staying close by her side. Our prayers are with her and the family.
Edith McKinnon attended church at Mtn. Home Sunday and was a dinner guest of Marge Thomas, in her home at Lakeview, with their Sunday school group from church Edith visited me Sunday evening and picked up her vegetables that Marcia Lyon had left here for her. Dean and Marcia Lyon have a big garden and have been selling vegetables as fast as they can be harvested. Blackberries have dried up on the vines here since we had no rain. In fact many shrubs will be lucky to survive the heat with no water for so long.
Maxine Smith spent two days in Springfield last week with her friend, Moselene Shaw, and niece, Cindy, and family. Marsha Hallam, with daughter-in-law and two children, from Tempe, AZ. visited Marsha’s mom, Maxine Smith, for five days recently.
Doris Treiber and I had Sunday lunch together. Doris had an enjoyable visit with her daughters, and with her sister, Marian Burns, Silver Lake, KS. and daughter, Laura, in Topeka, Karen in Lawrence, and Susan at Lyndon, KS. They went to a quilt shop and other shopping. Her trip was from July 5 through the 11th.
The Gaddy family reunion was held at Branson from Friday night until Sunday morning with around 35 in attendance. They held church services. Jean’s husband, Roger Suman, provided homemade ice cream which surely was a highlight of the event. This is an annual event since the passing of their parents.
Friends of Irene Trent were saddened to hear of her death.
Best wishes to Eutha Kirkland, a resident at Gainesville Healthcare. We hope her health improves soon.
The Saturday morning Ladies brunch, hosted by First Baptist Church, was enjoyed by area church ladies and the “breakfast” was delicious. I believe there were over 70 present.
Just a thought, “Men are a lot like fish, neither would get into trouble if they kept their mouths shut.”
