Quad Cities

7-11-11 – It’s that time of week again for me to get some things ready to mail. I woke up to thunder this morning, but it had just rained enough to dampen the sidewalk a little. It’s really dark, hot, humid and I’m hearing thunder again. We’re not supposed to get much of anything though. They got some high wind damages in the Cities last night. Some people had power outages and some tree limbs down and other things blown around and some broken glass.

Walt talked to the mother of his twin grandkids that just graduated from high school. We didn’t get to go to their graduation party because of stormy weather and their birthdays are today so he wanted to try to find a time when it would be convenient to see them. She said they had been very busy and just got back from a fourteen day trip to Europe. They had went and picked them up in Lincoln, Nebraska Saturday. They were with the Midwest American Honor Choir. They performed in cathedrals around Europe, including France, Switzerland, Austria, Germany and they also performed in Nosterdam, Omaha Beach, and Normandy. They gave an impromptu concert in a little café in Switzerland. It sounds like they had an exciting time. Thanks goodness they got back safe and sound. Walt is anxious to talk to them because he was stationed in Lenz, Austria and somewhere in Germany.

I texted Anita  and asked if she had any news for me and she said they had a cookout and swimming at Lisa and Joe’s last Friday and that Zoie is getting ready to go to Bible camp today. There’s a Bible camp real close to where they live so that will be nice for Zoie. She’s such a sweetie. Anita was painting her (own) living room and said it turned out to be a bigger job than she expected. She thought she could get it in one coat, but said it’s going take two. Oh yes, the twins are going to start college at Scott County Community College there in Bettendorf where they live. That’s where their sister is going too. Walt is sure proud of them and has every right to be. They’ve always been involved in almost everything. Garret got his Eagle Scout honor about two years ago. We attended his ceremony and it was a really big deal. Walt also had a nice phone visit with his daughter, Mona, in Ozark, MO. yesterday. His daughter, Berta, called Saturday to thank us for a get well card and picture I had sent. She was in the hospital with the first heart attack and they put in two stints then after she went home she had another heart attack and had to go back and get three more stints put in. She was supposed to go back to work today. I wish her luck. I care a lot for her. She’s a good person.

We have to go to Tipton pretty soon to get a script for me and going to get up early and go to the Cities in the morning to try to get there when the driver’s license office opens at 8 a.m. so Walt can renew his driver’s license. So I better get this ready to mail with some more things I want to mail. Maybe it will be on time this time. Any news? Call 563-946-2214. Take care of yourselves and bye, bye for now.
