Free Pool Party for 7th to 12th grade students

Community Health Assessment Resource Team (CHART) is hosting a free pool party for 7th-12th grade students on Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the City Water Park in Ava.  The first 80 students in attendance for the evening will receive a t-shirt.   Youths from Douglas County public schools, private schools and home schools are welcome to attend.

The party is to promote World No Tobacco Day, a time to focus on health problems associated with tobacco use.

During the evening, Smokebuster youth advocates will host games on the health consequences of chewing tobacco, and the chemicals in secondhand smoke. Students who participate will be entered into a drawing for movie passes and gas cards.  You must be present to win.

Douglas County CHART is a non-profit coalition dedicated to improving the health of the community.

The pool party is sponsored by the Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.  For additional information or questions, please call CHART President Glenna Young, RN, 417-683-4174.
