Church of the Living God

Wednesday night Bible study is always a mid-week pick me up. Steve Wilkerson is our teacher. Prayer requests were for Connie and Leah Lee. Leah is now at Heart of the Ozarks Healthcare Center for therapy. We pray for a quick and full recovery. God bless you, Sister Leah. We miss you at church. We also had requests for Alice and Leon’s granddaughter – pray for Kaitlin, Loren and John, Don and Reba N.’s grandson, James Nelson, Donna A. and Bevy’s granddaughter, Katie.

Sunday morning service started out with Norma J. reading Psalms 149:1-9. There were many prayer requests. We are so thankful we have a God who hears and acts on our petitions. Our requests were for Leah and Connie L., Bill G.’s sister, Reba and Don’s granddaughter who is having back problems, Linda’s friend and Linda’s family, Haden, Ashley Forrest Dooms, Chad E.’s parents who are on a trip to Australia, Chantelle, military men and women, those in nursing homes, Kevin C.’s MRI coming up this week.

Pastor Gary’s sermon was found in Eccl. 1:1 – vanity of vanities, saith the “Preacher” all is vanity. The  definition is” excessive pride in ones appearance, qualities, achievements, etc. and conceit, lack of real value, something worthless, trivial or pointless. When we are young and in the learning process we all have a tendency to hold the earth’s treasures near and dear to us. As we grow older and wiser, the basic thrust of Ecclesiastes is that all of life is meaningful, useless, hollow, futile and vain if it is not rightly related to God. Based on God and His word, life is worthwhile. Plan on making Heaven your home.

We had a totally wonderful meal after the morning service, needless to say we all ate too much.

The singing for the evening was great and we had several people who had “award” to give, Steve W., thank the Lord where he is today and what God delivered him from. Way to go Chad E. A great many of us have been ” a soul” somewhere in our life. God does not call the qualified, He qualifies the one He calls.
