Gentry Church

Opening prayer and devotion to start our morning service was by Doug Miller. After congregational singing, everyone went to classes where our lesson was on “Dealing With Disobedience.” We learned how Joshua was to deal with Achan’s sin in Joshua 7:1-26. We need to be obedient to God. Human nature is tricky and our hearts cannot always be trusted. Too often we blame God for our failures rather than recognize consequences of our own and other’s sins.

Happy Birthday wishes went out to Faye Allen and her grandson, Josh.

Congratulations goes out to Harlin and Kay Johnson on their 47th wedding anniversary.

We had a dedication to the Lord this morning. She was little McKenzie Horstman, who also received a stuffed animal.

For our special song, Brenda Hampel did a good job singing The Star Spangled Banner, with everyone  standing saluting the flag. Thanking and praising God and our soldiers for our freedom. They are fighting for us and should be honored for serving our country.

We also had a special reading of “The First Prayer In U.S. Congress” offered on Sept. 7, 1774 in Carpentar’s Hall in Philiadelphia. It was good to see our founding fathers have religious and Christians values. The early Christians were believers of our nation.

We had a lot of prayer requests sent forth and while praying for all these requests, we ask that you remember Crystal Lee and her family. She was badly injured in a car accident last week and has been transferred to Columbia.

Next Sunday, July 10, we will have Bro. Brad Pellham, for our morning and evening speaker. Please attend and support this young man.

Pastor Hall’s morning message was from Hebrew 12:1-2. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith. One of the most important things is our freedom, but the greatest of all is our spiritual freedom.

May God bless.
