It is so far a nice day, much cooler than we have had the past week. This morning Narise reports one inch of rain in her rain gage.
We are looking for a good even for fireworks here on South National, where Marice and I will have friends to join us, we have front row seats on the sidewalk.
Sunday morning 10:00 am service was Patriotic Sunday. Many Veterans were honored by singing patriotic songs and best of all, “A Call to Fall”, an appeal to pastors to lead their congregations July 4th Sunday in five minutes of prayer on their knees for our country.
Bryan Fischer points out that the Bible portrays praying on one’s knees as an act of humility before God and a posture of appeal to heaven.
“You look at the scripture, you look at the history of the United States, and when nations were in a time of peril, particularly when they had experience a moral and spiritual decline, the way back always begins with God’s people going before God in earnest prayer and asking for a fresh release of his spirit of cleansing and renewal,” Fischer notes. He concludes that if there has ever been a time in America’s history where it needed that, it is now.
At church Sunday, when I saw Louise Wood coming at me smiling, I knew then she had news from our good friend Vivian Ridenhour at Hartford, Wisconsin. She is very well, and so good to hear from her.
