Ava Art Guild Green Art Camp Continues

The Ava Art Guild’s Green Art Camp has been very successful in the month of June and continues for two weeks in July.
The summer school program brought students from the 3rd and 4th grade to the camp. With those students there were about 30 kids a day attending. They enjoyed making terrariums and butterfly mobiles, newspaper tote bags and duct tape wallets the first week. The projects the second week were mosaic bird baths, birdhouses and beaded bugs. “The response from the students and teachers h besen very positive”, said Liz Jenkins one of the organizers of the camp.
Summer school will be out in July but we are hoping to have many of the kids return for the last two weeks. Some of the projects in July include cardboard guitar, paper bowls, clay necklace, tie dye and on the last day homemade ice cream.
There has not only been a good turn out of children, but of volunteers. There has been members and non-members alike showing up to help the kids with their projects. We appreciate all their hard work more than can be said.
The dates in July for the camp are July 12 and 13, 19 and 20. There are sessions from 10 am to noon and 2 pm to 4 pm each day. Open to ages 7 to 18.For more information or to register a child go to avaartguild.org, email avaartguild@yahoo.com, find us on facebook or stop in the gallery at 303 E Washington Ave, Ava, open Wednesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m..
