The cicadas are quiet now compared to the first weeks of their “noise-making.” It’s time for them to leave the area as they usually do each “cycle” they are here.

I was glad to read in the local news that Mtn. Home is getting a “Big Lots” store locating there in September. I have been wishing for Aldi’s grocery store to locate there also.
It has really been suitable weather for harvesting good hay crops. It is common nowadays to see big round bales in the fields instead of square bales.
Sympathy is expressed to the family of those who lost loved ones recently. Among those are Janice Hogan, who lost her mother, Ella Mae Delp, the Dorothy Heide family, Bob Johnstons’ family at Bakersfield, also.
Maxine Smith took Archie and Norine Loftis to the Dora Fire House Sunday to the 2nd day of the Smith Reunion for an enjoyable day visiting. She attended the reunion on Saturday also.
The Theodosia Methodist Church hosts the Ladies Prayer Brunch , Saturday, June 18, at 10:00 a.m. Everyone is invited.
Lilly Ridge Extension Club is Thursday the 16th, at the health dept basement room.
Sunday the 19th, is Father’s Day and folks can honor their fathers in various ways, while they are lucky enough to have their dads around. I had one of the best fathers and didn’t realize it until he was gone, as I should have.
Lilly Ridge Church’s Wednesday night class will start meeting in the adults Sunday morning class room to conserve electricity.
Piland Youth Camp is this week and we hope the weather won’t be quite as hot.
For those who have loved ones buried at Lilly Ridge Cemetery will be glad to know flowers can stay on graves until July 1st and we had our 35th annual cemetery meeting Sunday afternoon with those present as follows: Carol King and Ida Mae Huse, Anna Larson, Leslie Hicks, Joe Gaddy, Marv Looney and Linnie Ingram. As expenses go on for caretaking donations are appreciated, and we appreciate all who have donated. As Ama Larsons term as chairman of the committee expired, Joe Gaddy was elected to serve as chairman.
Happy June 15th birthday to my niece, Carol Aronis, in Springfield.
I appreciate my great grandson, Keith Davis, and son-in-law, Dave, who managed to get my new air conditioner from Mtn. Home on Sunday and Keith installed it, no easy job by himself.
Gainesville Eastern Star Chapter met Monday evening at the Masonic Hall. At the June 27th meeting 50 year members will be honored.
Paralee Rea attended the Promise Land Memorial and decoration of graves Sunday, where several family members were in attendance. Cousins were there from Independence and Shawnee, KS., Mtn. Home and Springfield. Several friends who attended school together, in years past, at Hilltop, In Marion County, Arkansas, were there also.
Congratulations to Delbert Rackley who celebrated a birthday Sunday, the 12th of June. His friends all sympathize with him as he is in the “Golden Years.”
