Martin J. Zimmer, 76, of Ava, was airlifted to a Springfield hospital last Saturday morning following a two-vehicle crash in western Douglas County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that Zimmer was traveling east on Route NN, nine miles west of Ava, when he slowed in the roadway and was rear-ended by another vehicle driven by Cody W. Ellison, 25, of Ava.
Following the collision, Zimmer’s 1983 Chevrolet ran off the roadway, overturned and struck a utility pole. Ellison’s 1995 Ford also left the roadway following the crash, the Patrol said.
The wreck occurred at 5:40 a.m. and was investigated by Tpr. Rob Crewse of the Highway Patrol.
