Highlonesome

Time does fly, here it is half the year gone.  Soon blackberries will be ready, I hope it cools up.

James preached at Garrison Church, we enjoyed it.  He will preach this Sunday and Sunday night, June 19th Sunday School at 10:00 am, preaching at 11:00 am and Sunday night 6:30 pm.

June 26th , Sunday James will preach at Chadwick Baptist Temple for their homecoming day and dinner will follow.  He helped get the church started and its always had a special place in our hearts.  Pastor, Jerry Loveland has pastored it a long time.  He and Donna do a good job.

June 25th will be Mt. Olive’s singing at Highlonesome, 6:30 pm and Sunday, June 26th will be home coming.  That was the main event when I was a kid.  Lots of changes along the years, but God is the same, it’s the people.  Lots of the churche’s people have passed away, moved away, go to another church or plain just don’t care or go.  We get in a rut or a lukewarm position.  We are not perfect but we all could do better.  If you don’t do anything, do something, and if you do something, do more to serve God.  You can get disgusted, out of habit going to church.  But in our time of need, who do we call upon?  Don’t let someone else’s faults keep you from church.  Lots of misunderstandings has kept people from church.  People should talk things over.  You can blame the wrong person or source.

Ortha Lawrence left a message Monday morning.  Her grandson, Jerry Jenkins of Utah called her from China.  His work sends him all over the world.

June 4th, Saturday, the kids and young at heart enjoyed a float trip.   They came back to Eastern Gate Church and had a very good meal.  The best was God was in the service.  A memorial service for Ethan Hutchinson, a large crowd attended and the holy spirit dealt with people.

Deanna (Hutchinson) Porter, Ethan’s sister and friend, Ryan (Waggner) Hill sang two good songs.  Jon and Lindsey Mitchell, Irene Swearingin, Bud Hampton and Deanna Porter sang two songs, they were good too.  The Pastor, Donald Potter, preached.  The former Pastor, James Orick preached, gave an alter call and many came to talk to the Lord.  Video was showing pictures and then we watched one when he talked in it.  Jon Mitchell made a talk after that.  Remember Ethan’s family and his friends, they have had a hard time dealing with losing him.  People, he won’t be back but get ready to be with him.

Revival started on Sunday night and Brother Ray Dobbs preached a good message every night.  First night we were at Garrison Church.  James preached there but we attended the rest and those of you that didn’t get to hear him missed a blessing.  Maybe he will be close somewhere and you can hear him.  His wife, Margie is a very good singer, she is Bro. Potter’s sister, and Donald is gifted in singing and preaching.  Wednesday night Bro. Ray got sick, James preached that night.  We always love to have Ray in church services with us.  He came some when James pastored Eastern Gate and helped out a lot at Cardwell Church by his support of being there.  James and me sure wish Ray and Margie the best and Donald and Portia Potter.

Thanks to the other churches who supported the revival.  We all should be on could nine after the good revival.

Cindy Blakemore and girls spent the weekend with her mom, Gracie Williams.

Rex and Shirley Halcomb attended the visitation for Rick Workman who died suddenly.. He is the son, of the former Wilma Phillips, their sister-in-law.

Mrs. Ira (Faye) Maggard passed away her funeral is at 10:00 am Monday morning at Adams.  Visitation was Sunday night.

Janie Morrison and sister-in-law, Jean Loomis went to Joplin to look where the tornado hit, so pitiful.

Doug Nelson visited his uncle, Jerry Nelson during the week.

Saturday I visited my brother and wife, Junior and Betty Halcomb.  They had visited her brother and wife, J.B. and Marcie Casey.

Saturday morning trying to beat the heat, James and me took our walk, visited a few minutes with George and Bo Morrison.   Coming up our drive our dog found something by the drive in the grass, a copperhead.  It struck at her but she was lucky, so watch where you step, they are on the prowl, maybe the snake was Lotus hunting.

Tom and Phyllis Pettit are enjoying their grandson, Alex Pettit.  I believe I have the right first name for the summer.  They sure love and adore their grandchildren.  Glad to hear Tom is still doing good.

Good to see Loren and Hazel Maggard, they attended the memorial for Ethan Hutchnison Saturday night.

George and Janie Morrison’s company was Chris Milne and Murna.

Ervin Maggard is to go to Kansas City for evaluation for a heart transplant.  Remember him in your prayers.  Loren and Hazel Maggard visited him Saturday.  Loren has been blessed with 15 years with his heart transplant, may God grant him many more.  Loren’s mother, Edith seems to be some better.  Iona visited Ervin Sunday morning before going to Kansas City.  She still desires your prayers for him.

John Siler has been busy helping his Dad, Bob, in the hay, lots of hay being cut and baled now.  Gary and Mickey Harvill are in it all summer.  Neighbor, Jerry Nelson has been putting up hay.  George and Bo Morrison have been busy with hay.  Mercy it is hot.  We sure didn’t spring into spring it just sprung off into summer.

Have a safe summer, remember God’s always in control.
