Eastern Gate Church appreciates everyone who came to the one year memorial for Ethan Hutchinson, especially the young people. Thank God for so many old and young that gathered around the altar and looked at their own lives in need following the next night a revival started. Rev. Ray Dobbs held the revival. We enjoyed his heartfelt preaching from the spirit of the Lord. We had a lot that came to the altar most nights. The revival ended with our yearly homecoming dinner on Sunday. We had special songs and testimonies in the afternoon.
This Sunday was Father’s Day and some of our fathers received gifts and everyone got candy. Jerry Nelson got a gift for the most kids at church. Jimmy Nelson, the oldest dad. Bud Hampton, the most grandkids at church and J.J. Downs, the youngest dad.
Sunday night at church we had a dinner and our Pastor, Donald Potter, was honored with birthday cake and ice cream. We appreciate our Pastor Donald so much and several told him they would remember him this week in prayer as he wasn’t feeling well this week. Also everyone was reminded to remember Ervin Maggard in prayer.
Happy Birthday to Joseph Nelson, a big 20. His birthday is Monday, June 20. Ethan Hutchinson would have been 20 Wednesday. They wer also very close friends and part of our young people at Eastern Gate.
Esther Johnson was our piano player at church this week. She is one of our teenagers and doing a great job playing the piano now. We have a lot of great kids at church that sing and help out. Matty Hampton is our housekeeper and Kyle Hampton our lawn keeper. We thank God they come to church and show their bright, young faces and sometimes make us remember how wonderful it was to be a kid.
Susie Peacock had a garage sale this last weekend. Some of her signs got turned around and pointed to the wrong houses, but she still had a lot of people to stop by.
Justin Shortt, we hear is working at Casey’s in Sparta, Tiffany Hicks at Bull Creek CafĂ© in Sparta, Matty Hampton and Esther Johnson have been baby sitting. Trista Gunter is working at Sonic in Springfield. We are glad to hear that all these kids got summer jobs. Levi Johnson, Carl Hampton and Nathan Hutchinson have been helping Larry Hutchinson in the hay. Most of the hay around here is done. Thank the Lord it’s been a good year to grow and put hay up. It’s hard work, but the cows have to eat.
Eastern Gate took up a donation for a church in Joplin that was destroyed and hopefully one day they will be able to build back. Lots of people were hurt and three were killed while having church that evening. Just one of the very sad things that happened in the Joplin tornado.
Be kind to one another and pray for one another, and God will bless you.
