Last Thursday Douglas County Commissioners unsealed the bids submitted for the upcoming project at Vera Cruz and construction of a new overpass at the Bryant Creek low water slab.
Bids were received from Pace Construction Co. for $421,232, and Hartman & Co., Inc., for $408,665. Both bid proposals were given to Engineer Steve Brown with Great River Associates for specification verification, with intent to award the job to the lowest bidder. The proposed but unconfirmed start date for the project is July 14.
The commission also accepted a bid to fix the courthouse roof for $11,000, adopting a proposal from Cardinal Roofing. According to Presiding Commissioner Larry Pueppke, the courthouse roof was damaged during a wind storm approximately six weeks ago, and immediate repair is necessary. Pueppke said Cardinal Roofing is familiar with the problem and has prior experience at the site.
