All Around Bradleyville

My tomatoes and peppers are looking good even without the rain showers others have been getting. I think I can almost see them growing. I got them put out late, but since that is normal for me I know they’ll produce, just later than my neighbors. I planted some zucchini too and it popped up in just a few days. I also have a few cucumber plants that I hope will go ahead and produce cucumbers, and I’m still thinking about planting some green beans. I know lots of people plant a second crop of beans later in the summer so I think I might try. Like the old saying goes, “better late than never”, I guess.

Congratulations to Tucker and Lori Lux on the birth of their son, Ira Corbin. Ira was born on June 10 and weighed 8 lbs. and 9 oz. Grandma Lois Lux flew out to Toledo where they live now to stay with them a few days to help out and also get in some “grandma time” with baby Ira and his big brother, 2 yr. old Eliot.

Keep my mother-in-law, Juanita Shortt in your prayers. She was out on her porch feeding her little dog when she fell and broke her leg. She underwent surgery at St. John’s Hospital last Saturday to repair it and the doctor said she is doing very well so far. She will have to spend some time in re-hab but she is determined to get better as fast as she can.

We attended Wednesday night services at the White River Youth Camp last week while Senior Camp was going on. Several kids from our church and from the other churches in the area stayed the week including our granddaughter Courtney.

This week will be Jr. High camp for the 7th and 8th grades and next week will be Intermediate camp for the 5th and 6th grades. The last week in June will be Junior camp for kids going into 3rd or 4th grades.

Our regular Wednesday night Bible study is dismissed for the whole month of June to give people and opportunity to attend service at the Youth Camp. It is really a special time to gather with the other churches and attend services with all the young people who are at camp.

Congratulations to Mark and Liz (Zimmerman) Brumfield who got married at New Mansion Church on June 4.

Congratulations also to Derrick and Serena (Harris) Ervin who were married the evening of June 4 at the Harris family’s farm. I didn’t get to attend either wedding but I heard they were both beautiful.
