Paul Weltons Presented Century Farm Award By University of Missouri Douglas Co. Extension

Paul and Cathy Welton of Douglas County were awarded with a 2010 Missouri Century Farm award last Wednesday, June 15, at the University of Missouri Extension office in Ava.
The Welton farm is located in the Hebron area, north of Twin Bridges, in eastern Douglas County.
The Welton’s join more than 7,500 Missouri families that have been recognized since 1976. The Missouri Farm Bureau and MU Extension and the MU College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources are program sponsors.
To qualify, farms must meet certain guidelines such as, the same family must have owned the farm for 100 consecutive year. The line of ownership from the original settler or buyer may be through children, grandchildren, siblings and nephews or nieces, including those through marriage or adoption.
The farm must be at least 40 acres of the original land acquisition and make a financial contribution to the overall farm income.
