Gerald Ray Linder, 72, of Plattsburg, formerly of Smithville and Ava, passed away Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 30, 1938, to Charles Raymond and Ruby Florence (Elliot) Linder in Ava where he grew up and in 1957 graduated from Ava High School.
On June 14, 1959, he was united in marriage to Charlotte A. Swofford.
Gerald retired from Ford Motor Company after 31 years. He was a member of Little Platte Baptist Church.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Darrel Linder, and two sisters, Jewel Linder and Sharon Lansdown.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Charlotte; children Gary Linder, Greg Linder, Marty Linder and Julie Brinker and husband, Todd; grandchildren Heather, Shannon, Ashley, Alexis, Tara, Steven and wife, Stacy, Clint, Craig, Carolyn, Tonya and Tierney; sisters, Wilma Davis, Vera Davis, Anita Smith, and Loretta Andrews and husband John; sister-in-law Virginia Linder; brother-in-law Jerry Lansdown; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
