Drivers on Route 76 between Douglas County Route T at Goodhope west of Ava and Route 160 at Kissee Mills can expect one-lane traffic for several weeks starting Thursday, June 23, for a resurfacing project, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
The 27-mile long stretch of Route 76 will get a new one-inch thick asphalt driving surface.
Crews plan to begin the project at Goodhope and work west toward Kissee Mills.
The project also will repair bridge end posts on three bridges in Taney County near Bradleyville so that guardrails can be installed — at Spring Branch, Beaver Creek and Kentucky Creek.
Traffic Impacts:
• Where the paving crew equipment is working along Route 76, the road will be reduced to one lane of traffic. Flaggers will direct drivers through the work zone.
• During the bridge work, a temporary traffic signal will alternate one-lane traffic across the bridge around the clock.
Contractor crews will be on the road working between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Bad weather and/or construction-related delays could require crews to work on Saturdays at times.
APAC-Missouri Inc. of Columbia is the prime contractor, doing the work for a low-bid amount of $1.4 million.
The contractor expects to complete the work by late August although the contracted deadline date is Dec. 1.
