Ava Art Guild’s Green Art Camp And Workshop

The kids are out of school and bored. To keep them busy send them to the Green Art Camp hosted by the Ava Art Guild. It will run 4 weeks, with dates in June and July.

The theme will be birds and butterflies with projects being “green”, or mostly made from recycled items. Kids will make fun interactive recycled art. Projects will compliment the hummingbird and butterfly garden project that is in the works outside the gallery.

Some of the projects will be a terrarium, birdbath mosaic, newspaper tote bag, duct tape wallet, cardboard guitar, homemade ice cream and more. Art can be completed in one session so kids can attend any or all dates.

Dates of the camp are June 21 & 22, June 28 & 29, July 12 & 13 and July 19 & 20, with sessions from 10 a.m. to noon, or 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Green Art Camp will be held at the gallery building 303 E. Washington Ave., Ava. All supplies will be provided by the Art Guild and is free.

This is for ages 7 to 18 and projects are great for boys or girls. More information and a registration page are available online at avaaratguild.org.

During the monthly meeting, on June 18, officer elections will be held. After a brief business meeting there will be a beading workshop. Liz Jenkins will conduct a workshop with a hands-on jewelry making. Attendees will learn techniques for jewelry making and beading, then make a unique piece to take home.

Social time starts at 1 p.m., business meeting at 1:30 and workshop at 2 p.m. with all supplies provided by the Art Guild. The public is encouraged to attend the meeting and workshop. Membership for the Ava Art Guild runs from June to June and is $10 a year for adults and $5 for junior membership age under 18.
